  • If Chauvin can't handle an upset crowd then he shouldn't be a cop. Being a police officer is a high stress job, especially dealing with criminals on the street. Did Chauvin not know this when he signed up? If he can't handle the crowd then how does he handle the criminals?

    • Yeah I agree, but 40 years for murder is excessive in punishment. He didn't intend to hurt George Floyd, but manslaughter is correct charge. He acted recklessly and it resulted in George Floyd's death, but he didn't murder him.

  • I’ve watched the whole bodycam video several times now and the one thing that becomes more and more apparent each time is how aware Floyd (Kirby) is of the fact that he’s overdosing. Even his friend tells him “Calm down, you’re gonna give yourself a heart attack.” He knew what was in those pills he sold him and that he’d clearly taken too many of them. I’m also struck by how little those around him cared for him, they had ample opportunity to speak up and say he was on drugs but they chose not to. Hell his girl starts off by distancing herself from him as much as she can, she even says she’s his ex. Floyd (Kirby) also didn’t care enough about himself to fess up to being high as hell abd overdosing. He and he alone was responsible for his own death. Stupid games, stupid prizes.

  • There is fault on both sides. GF for obviously being on something and the cops for not talking and making sure he was calming down and keeping GF responsive. I mean the cop had a gun to GFs face and he expected him not to react while he was on something. I do think the cops are at fault for not making sure he was responsive. And now the good cops are going to get typecast as racists because of the actions of bad ones...

  • Classic Steven, who pretends to be a libertarian, justifying the state murdering a handcuffed man. He won't agree wirh the left even if they're obviously and clearly right to any reasonable person. He's also wrong, Chauvin was not trained to kneel on a handcuffed man's neck for 9.5 minutes. Medical examiner ruled a homocide, meaning Chauvin contributed significantly to George Floyd's death. This would be a conviction for anybody other than a cop, just because cops are rarely held accountable, even when they're obviously in the wrong, like this case.

    • Okay, so... I think this is partially bad training. But at the same time, he did have a history of doing things that put other people in danger and was struggling against the officers a few minutes before, so they don’t wanna risk him doing anything to get them all hurt. I’m not saying that not checking his pulse was smart or that their training was sufficient, but the police also kinda need to be careful, especially with somebody who’s likely to lash out.

It's not just an effect due to asphyxiation. There's other options to explain it.

  • putting race aside, everything comes down to personal choice. poor, rich or somewhere in between, its up to the individual and the choices they make dictates the outcome of their lives. rich people can steal while a poor person will give their last dollar to someone. its all about the choices we make and taking personal responsibility for those choices no matter what the outcomes is and owning it. if floyd would have complied, he"d still be alive. if he was in an overdose, he could have gotten help if he would have been calm and reasonable. he decided to fight and make things difficult forcing the cops to make the choices they made. this all started because of one choice floyd made, which for him, was the wrong choice. God bless you all and God bless America!!!!!!

Without knowing why they let him lie on the ground for so long, that seems improper and I think they should have got him to his feet and in the car. Put some leg shackles on him and get him up. I've been arrested 3-4 times. Drunk and sober, in and out of a car. I never acted like that. I didn't resist even if I talked shit. You passive aggressively resist like this and it is not going to go well. There are some pos cops out there that mess with you. I was pulled over when I was 18 with 3 friends in my car for plate lamp being out. It turned into fishing for drugs. No one had anything snd we were let go. No ticket. I checked my plate light after the cop pulled off and it worked fine. We were all white, FYI.
